Essential Information
Safari Activities
Game drives typically take place early in the morning and late afternoon when wildlife is most active. Vehicles are 4x4 with pop-up roofs for optimal viewing and photography. Your guides are experienced naturalists with in-depth knowledge of the wildlife and ecosystems. Some lodges also offer guided nature walks and night drives where permitted.
Weather Conditions
Kenya has a tropical climate with distinct dry and rainy seasons. The best time for wildlife viewing is during the dry seasons (June-October and January-February) when animals gather around water sources. Temperatures range from 20-30°C during the day, dropping to 10-15°C at night, especially in highlands. Early mornings and evenings can be cool, so bring layers.
Health & Safety
Consult your doctor about required vaccinations and malaria prevention measures before traveling to Kenya. Yellow fever vaccination is required if arriving from countries with risk of transmission. Drink only bottled water and use insect repellent, especially in the evenings. Our guides prioritize your safety on game drives, ensuring respectful distances from wildlife.
Packing Essentials
Pack lightweight, neutral-colored clothing (avoid bright colors and blue, which attracts tsetse flies). Include a warm jacket for cool mornings/evenings, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and comfortable closed shoes. Bring a good camera with zoom lens, binoculars, and a small daypack. Luggage should be soft-sided bags under 15kg due to small aircraft limitations.
